Day 196 Oldies

Another busy day with the boys. Both Tim and I got up early with the kids and the day took off at top speed from there. I absolutely loved raising kids and enjoyed every minute of the madness but once they've grown up it's amazing how quickly we embrace the quiet, self-centered life. Tim and I dine out whenever we want, watch tv and lounge around when we choose and appreciate the peace and quiet in our house to the fullest. As much as we love having our grandkids visit, it reminds us how old we are! Tim and I tag teamed like champions, Tim had the boys outside running around while I cleaned up from breakfast and the mornings fun. Boys are a busy breed, boundless energy with volume on high. Our youngest grandson encompasses every wild boy stereotype, he's cute as a button but has mischief on his mind. Our son in law picked them up shortly after lunch and just like that the house was silent. Tim and I both have big exams coming up within the next few weeks so we sat in silence and studied for several hours. We decided to go out for dinner, since we could, and we were ready to have someone wait on us. I put on this Calvin Klein sweater dress with gold button cut out sleeves and black boots. I wasn't loving the  outfit but with my red coat it looked fine, sometimes fine is the best we can do. We had a fantastic date night and came home with a renewed appreciation for our peaceful home. We'll be ready for the next visit with the kids, but until then, we'll walk without fear of stepping on toys, wake up at our leisure, dine out, enjoy the quiet life and leave child rearing to the younger generation. It's not that we're old, old, just that we've done our bit, been there...done that, we've earned every bit of our selfish lives and are smart enough to appreciate it.
