Day 264 Early Bird

This early bird had even an earlier start having to be in Providence by 7am. Up at 4:30 to write my blog, pack my car and of course get dressed in something that would carry me through a long day! Well it all worked out, as things usually do. I arrived early, typical for me, I never want people ready to work and set up for an event without me being the first one there. The conference went beautifully and couldn't have been at a more picturesque location. It was held at Roger Williams Park Casino, a spectacular historic building with amazing grounds. My navy blue dress looks black in this photo, but trust me, it was navy as were the shoes. I don't usually go with a pencil dress, but with the little jacket I really liked the style. I know I say navy silently says, "I'm ok in the backdrop" but since I was receiving an award for outstanding contributions to my profession, I knew I'd be in the forefront. I"m  kind of a big deal 😀 It really was a very special honor for me and I'll be proud to display the award in my office. Bringing home the gold was the icing on the cake for a great day. My mom attended the luncheon to see the presentation, I knew she'd love seeing the old building, me getting the award and having a great lunch. Since I was in charge of the food, I was thrilled to see everyone enjoy it...food can make or break any event! I was so tired but he time I arrived home but had chickens to tend to. Sadly, one of my old girls died and was in the corner of the coop. Tim was a bit horrified to see me go right in and pick her up by the leg and bring her out, not sure how he figured I'd remove her? At least she died of old age, not a fox attack like poor Silvia or a mink attack like Carol, she was a lucky bird. The other chickens seemed unaware and not the least bit concerned over the loss of Big Red, they focused on the treats I was bringing. I laughed at the imagine of me in my fancy attire with a dead chicken in hand, but that's just how life is sometimes. At least I took the time to change out of my heals and into my coop shoes. Exhausted from he day, I was in my PJs by 5:00 and in bed by 8....so much for a Friday night out.  No worries, an early start for another adventure awaits.
