Day 383 Fenway

When my daughter asked if Tim and I could watch the boys while she went to a concert, I immediately set to making plans. Why simply watch kids when there's adventures to be had? After kicking around a few ideas Tim and I picked a Red Sox night game, the boys were thrilled. They have been to lots of games but never a night game. They've heard stories and watched on TV but there's nothing like experiencing some things first hand. As we walked into the ball park they could feel the electric atmosphere, palatable excitement and anticipation to see our nations greatest pastime live. There are ballparks that are newer, filled with all the latest comforts and technology but non can compare to Fenway Park. You can feel the history as you walk in and have to appreciate being in the ballpark that has been home to some of the worlds greatest players. We settled into our seats, and were once again blown away by how the universe works. The man next to me was there with his wife and grown sons and as we chatted it was slowly revealed that he and his wife are my sisters in-laws! His wife and I both leaned forward to see one another and laughed so hard when we realized we'd been sitting so close and hadn't seen each other. Imagine, my brother in laws sister and her husband and family who I haven't seen in maybe twenty years sitting right next to us at Fenway?! So funny how things work out! The game started off with a bang with the Sox hitting a home run with the first batter. They were up for several innings before things took a turn and the Dodgers won 7-4 but not before we all had a chance to sing Sweet Caroline! The T ride back to Quincy Adams, where we had parked to conveniently avoid Boston traffic, became another adventure for the kids. The human element on a T at midnight lends an eye opening experience for us small town folks and never fails to entertain.  Our grandsons were safely returned home to my daughter just before 1:00am, safe and sound, exhausted and happy. She's use to them being brought home late. After all, when we're on a grammy adventure we can't be bound to time limits!
