Day 399 New Friends

September beach day for the record books. The weather ran the gamut from sunshine and blue skies to a torrential downpour leaving a rainbow and clear skies.  For those of us confident enough to know the sun would return we were rewarded with a spectacular evening and beautiful sunset. Sometimes you just need to weather a storm to experience the glory of the aftermath. With football season back in full swing, a girls day at the beach was planned, no need to twist my arm. I was included in my friend Donna's friends group as the new girl and loved meeting her friends and chatting all day as we sat in the sunshine and listened to the ocean surf. Donna had made all kinds of beachside treats, spoiling us all with delicious appetizers and drinks. We sat on the beach all afternoon until the skies darkened with what we knew would be a rainstorm rolling through. We gathered up our things and sheltered inside the beach club watching the storm blow through, soaking everything and clearing out the few people who remained on the beach. We weren't inside long when the sun came back out and a rainbow brightened our view. Donna wiped down the seats on the deck chairs and set a beautiful table to serve us all dinner. She went above and beyond, with a beautiful tablecloth and a feast that was devoured by everyone as we continued chatting, telling stories and enjoying every minute of each others company. Her friends were fantastic, down to earth and embraced me as if I had been part of their group for years. Donna and I agreed to look carefully at the upcoming football schedule to make our future plans.  I have a feeling I might love football season, already looking forward to the next game day, for us non football watching gals the options are endless! Hopefully we'll even get another beach day or two in before the fall, I do love a September beach day, almost as much as making new friends.
