Day 431 Cannes

The French Riviera isn’t a bad place to spend the last full day of vacation. Cannes is such a beautiful city with a mix of old and new. The narrow walkways between houses and shops were full of history and charm. The newer parts of the city dripped with money, yachts, expensive cars and shops that could rival Rodeo Drive. I don’t believe you could write about Cannes without mentioning stairs! The city is only maneuverable by climbing one staircase after another.  However, the view from the high points of town are worth all the steps it takes to get there. On top of the hill sits an old castle where you can look down onto the shoreline and see the entire city below. After several hours of exploring we settled in at a small cafe and enjoyed a delicious sandwich and cappuccino. The French pastries were as spectacular to look at as they were delicious! Our afternoon was spent back on the ship where we lounged poolside soaking in the sunshine. We had a fantastic dinner with vacation friends then danced until the morning hours! We’ll be sorry to see our vacation come to a close but will be nice to sleep in our own bed. I’ve loved France, the people, contrary to what you might hear, are friendly and helpful. The French Riviera has earned all its bragging rights for being a tropical paradise and it’s easy to see why the ultra rich vacation here. I’ve taken so many photos and will be creating a vacation album to torture my friends and family with. On to Marseille to begin the long journey home.
