Day 435 Vacation Treasures

Unpacking treasures from my travels, only a few souvenirs but selected carefully. I love bringing home art work, of any kind. I bought this painting from a street merchant in downtown Barcelona. I don't believe we select art, it chooses you and pulls you in,  I was immediately drawn to this piece as it called to me.I also bought a beautiful shell in Italy, at the cameo making workshop, somehow I loved the shell more than the jewelry. It might take me a while to completely unpack and reorganize, especially moving at such a slow pace, still feeling crappy. Cold medicine does wonders so at least I'm able to get through the day before crashing early. I had tickets to a concert in Boston but told Tim mid-day that wasn't going to happen, an early bedtime won easily.  I made myself homemade chicken soup, that always helps speed recovery. Fortunately Tim and I have plans this weekend so my fabulous vacation tan won't fade before I'm able to show it off a bit. I also have the dress I had planned on wearing for my reunion ready and waiting to be worn. I have been amazed at the beautiful fall foliage in full color, everything was still so green when we left. It's hard to beat Autumn in New England for beauty, it surrounds you with vibrant colors and crisp fresh air. RI smells so nice, is clean, very little graffiti and pick pocket free, not a bad place to be at all. I found myself walking around with my hand still on my bag, protecting it from potential criminals before remembering I was home, I could leave my purse in the shopping cart, walk away and it would be there when I return, a refreshing feeling.  I loved seeing all the beautiful places and historic sights but RI is the place for me, always will be. When traveling you zip around for hours on end hitting all the historic landmarks, seeing everything another country has to offer, but typically don't do that in your own back yard. Imagine spending the weekend visiting all of the Newport Mansions, taking a ferry to Block Island, exploring Fort Adams, Beavertail lighthouse, Mystic Seaport, any one of our beautiful beaches, Boston, New York,  I could go on and on. You don't need a long flight across the ocean to be in awe of spectacular sights. I might have to do a travel New England segment! I bet I could showcase a few things that would impress and surprise you right here in my own backyard. I will give it to the French for their delicious pastries and breads and the Italians for their pizza, food glorious food. Americans haven't refined the art of pastries yet, maybe a good thing or I'd be three hundred pounds. Some treasures were eaten, most seen and only a few packable, they will find a place in my home, becoming part of my life story.
