Day 455 Game Day

A morning walk in the crisp fall air was the perfect start to a busy day. Lots to do once the day began, never-ending chores and getting Tim ready for his surgery. We've been creeping towards his surgery date, trying to mentally prepare and move forward with a positive attitude. I'm a true believer in the energy you put out into the universe, so try my best to only send positive vibes out into it. Colectomy surgery is a major surgery and will be life altering, but both Tim and I understand the need for it and are ready for whatever comes our way. A good friend of mine, who is also a physician, gave Tim the very best bit of advice. Knowing what a sporty spice Tim is, he told Tim to think of life and his health like a game, then do whatever it takes to win! Prepping for game day had us on a strict timeline filled with prescriptions and lists filled with to-do's. Tim isn't always a rule follower, making my job of keeping him on track a bit more challenging. I channeled my inner nursing skills and counted  meds, labeled little bowls filled with pills with each hour to take them, prepped endless clear liquids. There were notes, checklists, alarms set but every detail was completed on time and with accuracy. I'm sure he'll do well with the surgery, he's strong, in great shape  and other than this part of his body, healthy. As we walk through life, we never know what will come our way, being able to embrace plan B is important. Having someone to help bear our burdens is paramount, we know and appreciate how lucky we are to have each other. We're prepared to handle life's plan B's or even C's together, although out of the two of us, I am no doubt a better care giver! As we roll into game day I am sure of two things, surgery will be a total success and Tim will come out as MVP. Bring on your plan B, we're ready for you.
