Day 627 Big Doings

The brilliant sunshine was greatly appreciated, even with the temps struggling to warm up. I drove to the city to set up for an event at Roger Williams Park and fortunately arrived early enough to take in a bit of the scenery before setting to work. The event will be held in a beautiful old building that was once a casino, I can only imagine how spectacular this building was back in its hay day. I love to see old buildings restored and used, especially one in such a spectacular location. The grounds surrounding the building are meticulously kept, the buds on the trees are blooming pretty pink flowers. There's ducks in the pond and historic old buildings everywhere you turn. It's too bad the event will be inside, although I'm inspired to go back and spend a day hiking and exploring the parks grounds very soon. If someone were to visit Rhode Island, I'm not sure they would ever think to visit RWP, but they should. In my next life I might be a RI travel guide and point out all the best spots to visitors. Somehow I got hoodwinked into being chair of a conference committee, pulling an event together with only a few months notice. Although its been a ton of work and I'll be very, very happy when it's over, I don't mind planning it, my brain see's the flow and somehow can make it all happen. I made centerpieces for each table with beautiful azaleas to add a pop of color to the room and have hopefully thought of every little detail possible, fingers crossed. I've got a keynote speaker flying in from Colorado and four educational sessions as well as a breakfast bar and full lunch being served. There will be raffles and speeches and all kinds of pomp and circumstance and by the end of the day I'll be thrilled to have it all behind me. I've often said how much I'd love to attend one of my functions, being the planner never leaves time to enjoy the affair. I even turned down a dinner invite with friends for my pre-event beauty sleep. With a projected forecast of sunshine and temps in the 60's it seems even Mother Nature is graciously cooperating. Somehow everything is better when the sun shines and the weekend is within our sight.

Comments

  1. So I read the title of this blog and I'm like, "What the heck? Alight, let's see where this goes" - hoping I at least get mentioned once or twice. I read it and it's about nature and whatnot. Ok.
I look back at the title and it's "BIG DOINGS". BIG DO-INGS.
There's an "I" right there in the middle.
    Did. Not. See. It.
Looking forward to tomorrow's always wonderful blog.
