Day 684 Boundaries

Another perfect beach day. Holy cow, did I pick a great week to take off work! I arrived at the beach club just as it was opening, being the first one to step foot onto the hot sand. I sat soaking in the sounds of crashing waves, without any chatter interfering with its perfection. After having the beach all to myself for what seemed like ages, I watched as a young woman walked along the shore carrying a large bouquet of flowers, chocolates and a cooler, clearly setting the stage for something big. She smiled as she walked along, crossing the invisible boundary from public to private sand, consumed by her mission. She carefully placed all her items in the sand, arranging them all just so before turning to leave.  As she walked away, leaving her stash on the beach she smiled at me and promised to be back, in turn, I promised to keep an eye on her things, selfishly anxious to witness whatever was coming next. When she reappeared she was holding hands with another woman, who was unmistankingly suprised to find all the gifts waiting for her. The two woman hugged, kissed and gifts flowed one after another as the champagne came out of the cooler and was popped. I wasn't sure if this was a proposal, a reunion of sorts or a date but whatever it was, these gals seemed to be in their own little bubble of happiness. I tried to pretend I wasn't there, looking at the ocean or laying back and closing my eyes but began to get nervous for them. My private beach doesn't take kindly to folks setting up camp on our section of beach, special occasion or not. Being the budinsky I am, I got up and approached the couple, asking what the occasion was. each of them more eager than the other to tell me it was their one year anniversary. The joy and love between them was obvious and sweet. I explained that they were on a private beach, but quickly added that I would be happy to sign them in as my guests so no one would bother them. They were delighted and thankful as I went on to give them a beach blanket, the only item I could see they hadn't thought of before going inside to register them as my guests. What a treat it was for me to witness young love and be able to help keep the world at bay for this young couple, allowing them to remain within their bubble, untouched by the rules of the world. As much as I understand and appreciate rules, love knows no boundaries.
