Day 692 Zoobilee
Holy cow, now that's a dress! If you've been reading for a while you may recognize it, from back in October. While Tim and I were in Sorrento, I happened to walk by a shop and see this dress on one of the displays. I immediately went inside to buy it, knowing I'd love it for years to come. I'm not big on buying souvenirs but this wearable work of art was made for me and when looking for what to wear became priceless. I wasn't feeling fantastic as Tim and I tried to rally for our event at the zoo, making dressing up a bit more challenging. The Zoobilee is a fundraiser for our local zoo and happens to be one of my #1 nights of the entire year, no way I'd let not feeling great stop me. The entire zoo closes down to the public and sets up the most amazing night of food, music and animal interactions. A friend of mine gives me VIP tickets each year that allows us early entry to the incredible event, valued at $250 per ticket....how lucky am I??? The weather was a bit cooler than usual this year and Tim, thinking only of practicality, suggested we dress with warmth and comfort in mind.... smart but boring! I looked through my clothing and admit I tried on a pair of pink leopard print pants at first but then I spotted my dress, it jumped out at me and was on me in a flash. The cotton fabric, comfy, long length would keep me warm and the funky dress vibe, perfectiont! I drank a cappuccino, took some Tylenol and we were on our way! We arrived right on time, entered the event to the sounds of calypso music and left the real world behind. We ate our way around the zoo, tasting delectable treats from dozens of RI restaurants before hitting the dance floor. The band was fantastic and had everyone on their feet before taking a break at which point a giant dragon came onto the dance floor to entertain the crowd. Of course there was a raffle and I was thrilled to win a $50 gift card to a roof top restaurant in Providence, setting me up for my next adventure! The Zoobilee, my dress, the food, music and every detail from the entire night was perfect. Although, now I may need to go back to Italy for another dress!!
