Day 706 Don't Blink
The rainy day cleared just in time for a fun night out with friends. Tim and I chipped away at household chores, taking full advantage of our forced inside time. Once the skies cleared we were off, a quick visit to our Elks Lodge to hear a band then to Donna's house before heading to the Ratskeller for Those Guys, a super fun, local band. There's really nothing like a hot summer night with live music at an outdoor venue. The Ratskeller always builds a huge bonfire and although there are mobs of people, the outdoor space is large enough to allow everyone elbowroom. The dirt area in front of the stage is a makeshift dance floor and where we were the entire night, as it should be. Some folks bring lawn chairs and sit and watch the band without ever standing up, different kind of fun. I was certainly overdressed for the backyard vibe, didn't feel like donning redneck garb so I went full lime. After all the rain I felt a bit of bright summer color was in order and although more of a daytime dress I went with it anyway. I was pleased to find a lime slice necklace on my dresser, just waiting for a lime dress to show up! You'd think the platform shoes would be difficult to dance in, but they were comfortable and high enough to keep the dirt off my feet, win win. We danced all night, sang along and before I knew it we had stayed out much later than we should have... it happens. Beach plans on the horizon, with sunny weather predicted, I'll be able to catch up any missed sleep in the sunshine while listening to the sounds of the surf. I'll be playing in a Bocce tournament as well, odd but true and no, I'm not a good Bocce player so I already feel badly for whoever gets me as a partner. As happy as I was to get a few household chores done, I'm thankful for at least one day of the weekend with sunshine, I need my toes in the sand. It seems if I blink the weekend is over...so maybe I won't blink!
