Day 710 Tootsie
Theatre by the Sea never disappoints with amazing performances and entertaining shows. I haven't seen Tootsie since it was released in 1982 so if they took liberties in the storyline I wouldn't have noticed. The cast was great, and the old barn theatre is always a summer must. Our scheduled night had been cancelled so I had quickly made new reservations. I asked for an isle seat on either side, in an attempt to avoid NBA players sitting in front of me. My view was completely unobstructed, adding to my overall enjoyment of an amazing show. Being easily disturbed I find it important to have as few distractions as possible. The only issue I encountered was the woman in front of me with thick, long hair, that couldn't resist flicking, stroking and in every way possible playing with her hair. For a brief moment I imagined myself with a pair of scissors! She occasionally flicked her hair back so it rested on my legs....no thank you. Fortunately, at intermission she wrangled her mop up into a ponytail, allowing me a less interactive second half. Although Tim and I loved the show, towards the end we couldn't help but plot and plan our escape from the hectic dirt parking lot that always awaits at the end of each performance. I find it rude when people leave before the applause and encore but with the clock striking 11pm on a weeknight, we snuck out and ran to the car to make our escape as the last song was being sung...rude I know but it had to be done. We'll be back next week, although I may need to call Vinnie at the box office and check on availability for isle seats to make another switch and we'll try to stay until the end. I love a great show, but being 5'.3" (if I exaggerate) I often have trouble seeing the stage and tall people seem to be oblivious to the struggles happening behind them. A mid week theatre night may be past my bedtime, but gets me over the hump day, moving me closer to the weekend minute by minute. Tim asked when we'd have a day of rest, that's what beach days are for! Fingers crossed the weather will cooperate for another relaxing beach day this weekend, we both may need a nap by then.
