Day 741 Rachel and Tim's Excellent Dance Party

When the sign up sheet went up for Rachel and Tim's Excellent Dance party I knew I better bring my A game. Once again, Mother Nature came through with a cool, cloudy night, perfect for dancing. My mystery band, The Repercussions, brought their A game as well, playing rock n roll songs everyone loved and more importantly, could dance to. The blind sign up, band unknown, flushed out all the adventure seekers and risk takers, giving the party an extra cool vibe. The four friends Tim and I met at the Elks in Newport a few weeks ago even joined us...go figure! The band had everyone out on the dance floor all night, and when they took their break, I immediately sprung into action, to raffle off a couple door prizes, eggs of course and a bottle of wine. I had passed out optic laser wands just before the break, keeping everyone entertained until the music started up again and lighting up the night. During the second set the band called up a special guest to sing, my Timothy! Singing, the Weight by the Band to a stunned but thoroughly entertained crowd, Tim was fantastic.  I was incredibly proud of his courage to get up and sing, impressed by his stage presence and of course his fabulous voice. What a great opportunity for him to be a rockstar for a moment with me as his #1 groupie. My beach friends all raved about how much fun the party was, unaware that they were the most important contributing ingredient for the success of the night. I even noticed a few folks that hadn't registered beforehand coming up from the beach to join us after seeing how much fun they were missing. Everyone brought an appetizer to share and each guest arrived with their A game, ready to party! I'm sure everyone would love to have the Repercussions back next year, but I'll be on the lookout for a new mystery band to maintain my surprise element. Don't feel too badly for the band, a friend has already inquired about hiring them for a backyard party, they'll do well with my crowd. One of the best things about having a party at the beach club is the amazing staff that helps with all the set up and more importantly, clean up, Jen worked her tail off and her efforts greatly appreciated. At the end of the night Tim wanted to claim credit for the success of our party, staking claim to 3% of the work involved in making it all happen and graciously giving me 97% of the credit. Him singing to the crowd had to be worth at least 3%! I'd say we'll rest on our laurels for a bit, but we'll be hosting another party this week, so no rest for the weary. Dance party in the books, on to Karaoke.
