Day 803 Beach Nights and Burger King
If you've ever wondered why I love living in RI, just take a look at this photo! What a beautiful October evening at the beach, dancing with friends, enjoying the ocean breeze and big sky. I'm really not sure what I love more, looking out onto the vast ocean or gazing up at the endless sky over the water. The beach reminds me how small we are in this world, but also how blessed. I couldn't get through my day fast enough, eager to meet up with our friends for a fabulous dinner at the Coast Guard House before heading to the Firemen's Ball at the Dunes Club. I hadn't planned an outfit, so quickly grabbed my black sequin dress, laughing at the fact that it would be the first time my friends would see me wearing all black. After selecting my dress in a red hot minute, I spent the next 15 searching my house for a safety pin. The tiny pin needed to maintain a G rating and secure minimal cleavage. Holy cow, how in the world do I not have even one safety pin in my entire house?? I searched and searched, unsuccessfully and finally texted my neighbor who was at my door in a flash with three pins of various sizes! I'm not sure what kind of wizard she is, but her speed was appreciated and Tim and I were off in a flash. During dinner we watched the waves crash against the rocks and gazed out the window at the brilliant Hunters Moon, everyone appreciative of the spectacular view. Thankfully, the Firemen's Ball was at a beach club, it was too glorious of a night to stay indoors, although most folks did. I snuck outside every chance I got, not understanding why everyone didn't want the doors wide open to let the fresh cold night air inside. The band was great, fun to dance to but the outside ocean air was my favorite. We closed the event down and left as they were folding up tables and rolling them by us...ok we got the hint! Of course, on our way home Tim gave me a choice, Burger King or McDonalds... one of them was going to happen. I selected Burger King, along with at least a half dozen other cars, who knew we'd be waiting so long for a darn Whopper Jr? Tim never gets fries, claiming to not want them but then proceeds to eat half of mine, some things just don't change. Ending our glamorous night with fast food burgers and fries seemed like a good idea at the time, doesn't it always at midnight? Fancy dresses, beautiful nights at the beach, fabulous friends and Burger King, keeping things real.
