Day 818 A vote for Peabody
With a day in the city with no plans, Tim and I quickly agreed to visit Harvard Museum of Natural History and the Harvard Peabody Museum. I have visited the Yale Peabody Museum often over my lifetime but somehow don’t recall visiting the Harvard Museum. Contrary to Tim who has a vivid memory of visiting the museum as a child. He was 5th grade when his classroom had a vote for what field trip they would land on. Every kid in the class was eager to visit Rocky Point, which at the time was an amazing amusement park right in RI. Tim was the sole voice that quietly voted on the Peabody Museum and without any democratic voting process needed, his teacher loved his idea and the trip was decided. Of course, Tim wasn’t much liked by the other kids after that, but he swears that once they hit the dinosaur exhibit they began to see the light. Tim and I had very different upbringings, my folks were big on culture, education, etiquette and all things civilized while his parents focused more on pub life and card playing, leaving young Timmy eager for Museum visits. As he and I walked through the room filled with rocks and minerals, I easily identified my favorites, naming them with ease, Tim wondering why I didn’t become a Geologist. Tim has never even broken a Geode so I was thrilled to find them for sale in the gift shop….another new experience coming his way soon. We wandered through the Museums eager to see each and every exhibit. I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention the glass flowers, holy cow! At first glance it appeared to be a room filled with various species of plants and flowers, but they were all made out of glass…you really need to see it to believe it. After getting our smart on, we walked back to our Inn for a quick nap before heading out for another night of comedy, literature and of course, music. Front row worked well for us, as did my new earplugs and watching Tim sing and dance to every song made staying up so late worth it. Buffalo Tom won’t ever be my jam, but has quickly become my most seen concert. I’ve seen Michael Buble three times Buffalo Tom now pegs in at four….what?? Oh, the things we do for love. We have one more day of music before heading home, this daytime show will close the festival and end our city Birthday weekend. With all the fun we’ve had in the city, another visit soon isn’t out of the question, There’s a Titanic Exhibit in town….and always something new to learn.
My new earplugs 🤣 db
