Day 836 Trinkets
I know it's not Thanksgiving yet, but my Christmas decorations are on the ready...just waiting. As I'm thrifting I can't help but pick up a few new items here and there, adding to the crazy amount of cheer I have already just dying to break out. I found the two large holiday goblets, I think they would be great to hold candles or as centerpieces with holly greens. Tim and I still haven't come up with a plan for Thanksgiving yet, I think we're both leaning towards a quiet day together at home, although who knows. I will absolutely be utilizing the holiday weekend to take down every single fall decoration and happily replace it all with bells and baubles...as I listen to Christmas music every waking moment from now until Christmas. The entire holiday season makes me smile, the decorations, fancy dresses and for the most part, happier people everywhere. Decisions will need to be made, fake tree or real one? I have an artificial tree, easy, no mess and can stay up for ages without worry. The real tree wins some years, they smell so nice, each are unique and can be bought in varying sizes and somehow seem more legit. I still haven't decided what route to take this year, maybe both? When my kids were little, my youngest use to worry about Santa coming inside the house, each year he would ask if we could please put the tree up outside on the deck. He didn't like the idea of any home invasions, Santa, Tooth Fairy, Easter Bunny and would go to great lengths to not have any of these gift giving intruders come near him. He knew the tooth fairy would take his newly lost tooth from under a pillow, so he would put the tooth on the floor outside his bedroom door, place a pillow on it and close his door securely. You can imagine how much he dreaded Santa lurking around the house as we all slept! My other kids would snuggle into bed, blissfully trusting the universe and anxiously awaiting gifts. I love my grown up kids but admit I miss the commotion of a busy household, there was always something happening, although feeding them each and every day was like feeding a small army. A few years ago as I decorated my Christmas tree I boxed up special ornaments for each of my kids. Over the years they had each acquired quite an assortment of bling. I'll miss seeing some of their special ornaments, Ninja Turtles, dinosaurs, Harry Potter, music notes and pianos, Baby's 1st Christmas and ornaments from vacations like the green Hershey kiss from Hershey Park. I hope these ornaments bring happy memories to each of my kids as they put them on their trees each year and feel my love always. I guess that's it in a nutshell, this season brings sweet memories and engulfs us in feelings of love, past and present. Each little gift and trinket is a token of our love and will live on in our memories for years to come. I might have to find a new ornament for each of the kids this year, somehow these tiny treasures live on, making their appearance each holiday. Ok, looks like Thanksgiving better move over soon, Christmas is coming and this gal is ready and waiting.
