Day 844 Making Memories

It was a quiet, relaxing Thanksgiving day, just what the doctor ordered. Tim slept in until 10am, catching up on his rest after being in the hospital. I was up and at it early, continuing on with my cleaning and decorating. My mission for the morning was to take down dozens of photos I have displayed on a shelf in the family room. I decided to take pictures of the pictures and send them all to my digital frame so that I can have the shelves for poinsettias for the holidays...easier said than done. Framed photo after photo was taken down, dusted off, captured with my camera then put in a box. Each picture making me smile more than the next. I have super cool old photos of my grandparents on both sides, even old tintype pics of my great grandparents. The photo posted is of my dads parents, who lived right here in town, both of their families settled in South Kingstown in the late 1600's, so we can call them townies. They look so hip and stylish in their 1930's attire and holy cow was my grandmother tiny. My grandfather had been married prior to marrying my grandmother, his first wife died during childbirth. Back then it wasn't heard of for a single man to raise a child so the baby was given to his late wife's parents to raise. After meeting and marrying my grandmother, having three kids of their own, his son would visit, as if he were a cousin. That son's grandson has a striking resemblance to my grampa, strong genetics for sure. I paused on each old photo, looking at pictures of my kids when they were little, wondering how in the world time flew by so quickly? I looked at the baby pictures and can still feel the warmth of their snuggles. My photos are all jumbled up now, grandparents, kids, grandkids and friends, all mixed together and rolling through my digital frame in a nonsensicle order, perfection. When my dad passed away the funeral home asked for a thumb drive of photos to display, when I die they should use my digital frame. After all, it's the best reflection of my life, and the people I love. I'm not sure if I'll like having my shelves so clear but will give it a go until Christmas at least. Thanksgiving was a day for nostalgia, lounging, staying in PJ's, watching tv and of course, decorating for Christmas. Time to make a few more memories.
