Day 845 Change
The calm waters and clear skies we gazed upon during our last visit to Galilee were replaced with tumultuous seas and ominous skies, but holy cow did it make for a great picture! We had headed down to George's to buy a couple gift certificates during their holiday sale. For every $100 gift card you buy they give you another $50, pretty good deal if you're planning on visiting throughout the year. Tim enjoyed a cup of chowder and a clam cake as we sat and watched the sunset in what is undoubtably one of the best spots in RI. After our lazy day at home we were both happy to be out in the big beautiful world again. Once the sun went down we headed back into town and stopped at Kabuki for a bit of Japanese cuisine. We quickly realized it was the first time Tim was trying sushi since his surgery last year and we were both a bit unsure of how it would be for him. Fortunately, we didn't end back up in the ER. Although it was probably not the best food for him and was a bit concerning, it worked out ok. We loved our spontaneous date night, or I should say, afternoon since we were home before 7:00pm. I'm not sure how anyone is staying awake on these cold, dark nights, my internal clock tells my body to shut down and get to bed. In my defense, that same clock wakes me up before 5am and once awake, I'm up and running all day. Melissa and I walked, my friend Kathy came over for a Job Lot run, chores, cleaning and lots of holiday decorating got done, so of course I'm tired by 7pm. I even worked on some fun party favors for my holiday cocktail party, 'cause everyone loves to get a prize. The house is starting to look spectacular with beautiful lights and Christmas cheer in every nook and cranny. It will be a sad day in January when it all has to come down, but I suppose that increases our appreciation for it all. Seems the only constant in life is change, which is why I try and capture as much joy as possible when it comes to visit. It's also one of the reasons I love the ocean so much, it's a constant visual reminder of how quickly things change, reminding us that even the most tumultuous seas will be calm again soon enough. It's up to us to find beauty in both or at least appreciation.....gratitude goes a long way.
