Day 850 Mother load

My mom called to tell me she had a few Christmas things to give me....just a few! I arrived to find the mother load (pun intended) of cheer carefully packed up, waiting for me. I was too tired after my long day to sift through it all but excited to unpack it and incorporate it all into my indoor winter wonderland. Tim shook his head and questioned "why" but when it comes to Christmas decorating, I'm blissfully deaf to words of reason. I may be spending the entire month of January packing it all up but that's a 2025 problem. One of the baskets has a variety of Santas, each wrapped in green napkins my mom made for a party back in the early 60's. I may go all out for my parties but have yet to make cloth napkins so color me impressed. It will be so fun to see more of my childhood holiday decor popping up around my house, adding a bit of sentimental sparkle here and there. My mom still decorates for the holiday, but at 85 has begun to downsize just a bit. If I take after her it looks like I've got a good twenty five years ahead of me for going all out..finger crossed. My kids won't have to worry about taking my stuff when I'm gone, by then I'll probably have a great grandchild who is a kindred spirit and will cherish my old holiday decor and want it all...you never know! I do know that for as long as I can, I'll continue to decorate for each holiday and for Christmas it will be excessive...in the best way. I can't wait to see my grandchildren's delight when they walk in to see the house so festive.... kids appreciate every bit of sparkle with no thoughts of the work involved. With a few new bins of decor waiting for me, my morning will be a busy, albeit a cheerful one. It's a good thing I started decorating so early, I still have so much to do but tickled pink that these bins of old decor will be making their holiday debut in my house this year. I'd write more but gotta go....unpacking to do.
