Day 854 punch

Dug out my punch bowl for my party, because a festive punch is always a good idea. During the 1970's there wasn't a party without a festive punch, usually spiked. The non spiked punch being secretly spiked always kept the punch drinker on their toes. Not sure what kind of punch I'll be making yet this year, but the festive options are endless! Realizing I only have eight punch cups with my set, I reached out to a friend for the use of her cups, who knows, maybe I'll have dueling punch bowls? Thrift stores can't seem to give away the glass bowl sets, silly because some day I'd guess they will make a big comeback...why wouldn't they? I brought mine out a few years ago, in the height of COVID and was excited to have my grandkids enjoy a non alcoholic punch. They each scooped out their first glass, loved it and one of them (who had been sick all week) dipped his cup right back into the punch to refill his cup...ugh. Clearly the kids today need to learn punch etiquette. Tim even questioned the hygiene of the punch bowl, but I assured him that as long as we don't have double dippers, we'll be fine. Having ready made beverages at a party is important, nothing worse than wondering where to get a drink to wet your whistle. There are wonderful recipes for holiday punch, pretty cranberry orange beverages, green Grinch drinks, not sure yet what direction I'll go, but so far I'm loving the recipe search. After getting my punch bowl out and ready I had a girls brunch party to attend. I picked up Donna and we headed over, each bringing a dish. The food spread was outstanding, breads, quiches, bacon, fruit salad, more food than the dozen of us could ever eat. It's always fun to see friends houses all decorated for the holidays. Most of my friends decorate with the little ceramic villages, one trend I never got into. These little houses cover every table surface, creating winter village scenes with lights and even some moving parts. Although the village isn't my thing, I love seeing them in other houses. It's probably a good thing I never started collecting the little houses, being slightly obsessive,  I'd have Manhattan set up in my home by now. A visit with my grandsons brought my weekend to a close, always too short...the weekend, certainly not my grandsons. Both the boys are growing at an accelerated rate, they seem to grow five inches every time I blink. The weekend always goes by at an accelerated rate, why is it the week can drag on but the weekend goes in a flash? Before we know it we'll be taking down all the holiday cheer, packing up and putting away our punch bowls and hunkering down for the remainder of winter. Good thing we've got a cruise booked.... sunshine in February is always a good idea!
