Day 859 The Eight
TGIF Christmas party fun at the beach club on a cold winter night. I love to see everyone add a little sparkle to their outfits, throw on bold colors they might not usually wear and embrace their fancier selves. It was too cold for me to wear a dress so I opted for sequin pants to add a bit of shine while focusing on warmth. I had bought a couple pairs of sequin pants several months back, while thrifting of course, and must say...they are certainly fun to wear. I'll have to look through my closet to find the other pair, I think they might be silver? I didn't have much time to put together my outfit, quick turn around after work to get to the party on time so had grabbed the first pair I saw. Everyone arrived with a dish, appetizer or dessert making up an amazing spread. I hadn't had time to bake anything so ran to the grocery store, bought cookies and made it happen. The beach club crew was out in force but by 9pm the party began to wind down... we all must be getting old. A bunch of us went back to Dave and Donna's for an after party, refusing to let the night end so early. As we drove to their house, Tim asked if it would be "the eight" or if everyone was invited. Apparently my core crew is now "the eight" and I must say, I love our new nickname. The post party was filled with dozens of beach club folks who rolled in one after another and the festivities continued on. I was the sleepiest of them all, fading fast as I sipped my water and listened to everyones stories. Before long I nudged Tim to warm up the car so we could sneak out. Tim is missing "fun Rachel" but I think she's in hibernation until spring or at least until she feels warm air and sunshine on her face again. Everyone agree's it would help if I were able to sleep in like a "normal" person, but my internal clock seems to like a 4:45am wake up and trying to reset that isn't easy. I also find Friday nights tough, somehow the exhaustion from the entire week catches up by Friday, so maybe Saturday is my sweet spot? I'll be packing as much into my Saturday as possible, baking cookies, cleaning, wrapping and finishing up a few decorating details, no wonder I'm tired by 7pm! Hard to believe Christmas is less than two weeks away and thankfully, a gift I ordered over a month ago finally arrived! My grandson, Mack had asked for emotional support nuggets, seriously, a silly little fur basket of small chicken nugget shaped stuffed animals that believe it or not, must be the hot item this year for kids!? I tried to order them before Thanksgiving and they were already sold out, I kept on it until my order went through but have been waiting until now to get them. By now, Mack may have forgotten all about these silly nuggets, but I've become obsessed with getting them! Fingers crossed they will be worth the month of struggle they put me through, maybe that's the scheme, they create so much stress that by the time you get them you're in need of an emotional support item or two! I even ordered emotional support chicks as a backup, not sure if the nuggets would arrive. Thank goodness the nuggets arrived and I'm sure Timmy will love the chicks so both kids will be fully emotionally supported for Christmas 2024. From sequin pants to emotional support nuggets, looks like a very Merry Christmas is coming our way along with big plans for January in the works for the eight...fingers crossed I can stay awake for them!
