Day 865 Countdown

The countdown to Christmas is exciting but also a daily reminder of how little time I have to get everything done. Somehow I've left wrapping gifts for the last few days and now have a pile of presents waiting for me on my bedroom floor. In my defense, I've been cleaning, trying to get the house guest ready, no easy task. Bridie, Greg and the boys will be coming for a sleepover, then we have our party then onto Christmas company.... busy week ahead with lots of entertaining. I've got a counter full of groceries with recipes and menu's written out so nothing gets forgotten. With such a busy weekend ahead there's no time (or refrigerator space) to start shopping for Christmas dinner yet. My house is just about as clean as it's going to be and hopefully all the holiday decorations will distract from anything still in disarray. I doubt any of my guests care much about the house anyway, as long as people are greeted with warm smiles and welcoming cheer, that's all that matters. This last five days will be a flurry of food prep, company, mess making and picking up, in other words, my favorite week of the year! I can't wait to play a few games with the kids and have time to visit without interruptions from the outside world. While I was in the middle of cleaning, my son stopped by for a game of cribbage, giving me a much needed and appreciated break. Both he and I wonder why more people don't play cribbage?? He's also interested in learning Mahjong in the new year, a game I believe he will really enjoy and can't wait to teach him. Once the Christmas countdown is complete we will have a week to reminisce about 2024 before turning the page and stepping into 2025. We also have short time to complete any 2024 resolutions..... Thankfully, I typically don't make any, who needs that kind of pressure?!
