Day 870 Christmas Eve Commotion
My favorite holiday decoration is always the little black board with a special drawing by Tim. Somehow this has become his one contribution to each season and holiday and although it takes me a few weeks of nagging before he'll draw something, it continues to make me smile once it's done. We had a lazy Christmas Eve together, rare for us to have no plans but thoroughly enjoyed. We dipped into the Christmas Day pumpkin pie for a slice and called it dinner before watching a silly Christmas movie and going to bed early....boring I know but no complaints from us. I left all my scurrying for the morning rather than motivate myself to get things done, my morning self is much more efficient anyway. I've got beds to make, a table to set, dinner to prep and gifts still waiting to be wrapped, good thing I wake up early! I hadn't planned on my night sleep being interrupted so many times but Pep had other plans for me. She was eager to go outside, despite the cold temps, after several attempts to move me, I finally got up after midnight to let her outside. Within ten minutes of letting her out I heard a pack of coyotes along the river howling and making all kinds of commotion, not exactly the Christmas Eve commotion I expected to hear. I quickly got up to call Peps in but she never showed up, I wasn't sure if she was hiding from the coyotes or unaware of the danger? I must have dozed off and got up about an hour later to come downstairs to try and call her in again but she was already inside, Tim must have gotten up without me knowing. We were both glad to have her safely inside...until about 5am when we were woken up to a noise in our bedroom. Tim wasn't sure what the noise was, unfortunately, I knew all too well.... and told him it was the sound of Peps throwing up but added, Merry Christmas! Poor Peps had a rough night and morning and non of us knew when Santa was able to sneak inside with all the goings on throughout the night. I quickly added clean up to my list of Christmas chores and was out of bed like a rocket. With everyone coming for dinner, I've got plenty of time to get things done and Tim and I are both looking forward to a quiet morning together (hopefully Peps will too). Tim has a few days to rest on his laurels until the little black board needs a New Years message... not sure I will have enough nagging time in between holidays to get it done but fingers crossed. I'll worry about all that another day, for now it's nothing but Christmas cheer for everyone! Merry Christmas to all.
