Day 877 Fizzle
Impressed myself with my ability to rise to the occasion and make it out with friends for a New Years Eve celebration. Feeling the onset of a cold, body aches and all, I popped a few Advils, drank a shot of espresso, threw on a sparkly dress and Tim and I were on our way. We met up with the 8 at Carole and Rays, only to find Carole fading fast, also not feeling well. She was all dressed up and ready but as we all watched the color fade from her complexion, we knew she needed to stay home. Ray, opted to stay home with her, protesting her wishes for him to join us. The 8 became the 6 and the rest of us were off for a fancy dinner to ring in the new year. I clearly wasn't feeling my best, but made it through dinner and enjoyed being out with the crew. Our after dinner plans quickly dissolved as one by one we voted to go home and reconvene the next day....hoping one more day would make all the difference for everyone feeling better. The night wasn't a total bust, dinner was delicious and the six of us had a great time chatting and people watching. Being home before 11pm on New Years Eve might even be a smart choice, who needs to see the ball drop anyway or be on the roads after midnight? 2024 may have gone out in a fizzle but it was a great year filled with amazing memories. I didn't make any resolutions, look more to the upcoming year with excitement for whatever life brings my way. I'm especially thankful to have had the forethought to plan a fun trip with friends for February, before we know it we'll be basking in the Caribbean sunshine. I'll be turning 60 in the spring, prepping for a summer of beach club fun and looking forward to monthly dinner dates with the 8...2025 is shaping up to be fantastic, now I just need to shake off this cold that's trying to catch me.
