Day 888 Ugh

Before I start rambling on about nonsense, a quick Pep update is in order. She slept most of the day, but was eating and using the litter box when needed. It was clear she wasn't herself, she didn't mind staying inside and only occasionally went to the door to look outside. Her head was still down, slanted to the side but otherwise she seemed ok. Throughout the day there was no change in her movements but in the wee hours of the morning she seemed to start making a come back. I believe she must have had a mild stroke, fingers crossed she continues to improve. Getting old isn't easy for any of us, that's for sure. I spent the day watching over Pep and cleaning, a seemingly never ending task. I listened to my son lecture me on the importance of strength training and how I should be introducing a heavy kettle bell workout into my daily routine, ugh. I'm sure he was pleased when I sent him this photo of my dreaded 35lb kettlebell. I prefer the little 10lb weights but apparently, according to my son, I should be straining my muscles with the heavier weight. Of course, it's nothing I don't already know, just don't like the reality of it all. As we age, it becomes more and more important to strengthen our bones and muscles, although I've seen more than a few younger folks that could benefit from a workout or two. I protest the heavier kettlebell workouts... but the thought of being old, flabby and weak overpowers any arguments I may have. I wish walking/running were enough to keep in shape but the reality is, strength training is also needed. Pep and I seem to be growing older together, seeing her weak and vulnerable a reminder of how quickly things can change.  That darn kettlebell will be waiting for me each morning, mocking me if I don't pick it up. With another weekend day ahead at home, there will be no excuses...time to stack another habit into my morning routine. No workout for Pep, just more lounging and pampering in her future as she focuses on feeling better. Considering all the phone calls and texts from friends checking in on her, she's a pretty popular feline! Peps is a rockstar and is bound to be back up and running in no time, especially with all the love being sent her way.
