Day 890 Peanut Butter & Jelly

Some people go together like peanut butter and Jelly, like me and Dawn. Although she's in Florida and I'm in RI, we talk daily, facetime weekly and visit in person whenever possible. Over the weekends we're on the phone for over an hour and I often wonder how on earth we still have anything left to chat about. They say that if you're friends with someone for six years, you'll be friends forever, so far I have to agree. Some people come and go into our lives quickly, while others blend into the fabric of our journey without skipping a beat. Dawn and I don't have a lot in common, maybe we did when we were kids but life has brought us down two completely different paths. Of course, there are things we both rely on from the other,  including, loyalty, love and support. We've grown accustomed to leaning on the other through the years when needed and celebrating our friendship always. She moved away from RI ages ago, has been a Florida gal ever since but somehow our friendship has grown stronger each year, as if there were no distance between us. We call one another at least once a day, talk or listen, depending on the day and both feel empowered to tackle the world with the others support. We're both thankful for the technology that allows us to stay in touch so easily, we've come a long way from the old rotary phones with outrageous long distance fees. I have no idea what we'll talk about the next day but know for certain whatever topic we land on will have us both laughing in no time. Friends are good for the soul, friendships among life's greatest gifts, so find your people and hang on to them for life! After fifty years of friendship it's clear, Dawn and I will be friends always, after all, she's the peanut butter to my jelly. Looks like Tim isn't the only person I make wear silly shirts!!
