Day 897 Lazy Days
Woke up to a beautiful world covered in white. I eagerly threw on my boots & coat and went outside to explore the yard. Little critters had left prints all around the chicken coop and down to the riverbank. There were a variety of animal prints, clearly an active night in the neighborhood. Each and every tree branch was weighted down with a layer of frozen snow, hanging lower than usual, waiting for the sunshine to do its work and melt the icy weight. After making several of my own tracks and taking in the beauty of my river, it was time to grab a snow shovel. Paths were needed from my backdoor to the coop, to my car and along the front of the house. The paved driveway leading to my backyard is on a fairly steep hill that makes shoveling a slippery and fairly hazardous task, but I had it done in under 30 minutes. The hope is always to have the sunshine back me up and melt whatever is left on the driveway as long as I clear it down to ice, Mother Nature and I work well together. I started both cars, cleared them off and de-iced them, to make our morning easier. I was having so much fun shoveling and breathing in the fresh cold air that I continued on to clear two of my neighbors walkways before heading back inside. When I came in to tell Tim that the walks, cars and driveway were done, he smiled and told me he considers shoveling a great form of exercise, as if he'd just gotten a workout. I may have gotten a decent workout, but before you're impressed with my go get em efforts, that was the extent of my activities for the day. The remainder of the day I was as lazy as could be, lounging around, watching tv, not even packing as I had hoped to do. Somehow still ahead of Tim in the workout category..go figure! Snow days are meant to be lazy days and mine was enjoyed to the fullest.
