Day 900 Three Ketchup Mystery
Grocery deliveries are a luxury I've become accustomed to, making me feel that I've somehow beat the system. I went to bed, exhausted but happy that Tim was on duty to watch for the delivery and put all the groceries away. As I snuggled in bed, warm and toasty, I heard the bags being brought to the kitchen and began to hear cupboards opening and closing. A few minutes into my reveling in bliss, Tim was standing by my side asking me why I had bought three large ketchups. I sat up confused, I hadn't bought any ketchup, never mind three. I was up and into my robe in a flash to investigate the triple ketchup mystery. Walking into the kitchen I immediately was confronted with a family size box of Cheez Its, something I've never bought in my life. A bag of coffee beans, BBQ sauce, muffin mixes and a box of snack size chips... also not in my order. Since Tim had already put away half the food, I had to review each item on my list with him to determine what we did and didn't receive. Props to Tim for having the wherewithal to come get me to question the triple ketchups. I opened my shopping app and began chatting with customer service, no doubt an AI but I appreciated the prompt responses, human or not. The robot and I went through the order, I checked all of our missing items off and told him (not sure an AI has a gender but I think it was sporting a male name) about all the items I had gotten mistakingly. After about ten minutes of back and fourth, I was given a full refund for my order, even for the items I received and was told to keep or throw away the items I received by mistake. Tim was delighted with the box of chips as well as the good bbq sauce although neither of us know what we'll do with so much ketchup! My son and daughter always enjoy stopping by to pick up a dozen eggs, next time they'll go home with eggs along with a side car of ketchup. We all make mistakes, nothing is perfect but color me impressed with the customer service that apologies (even if through an AI) and refunds above and beyond what's needed. We may not have gotten a few bags of groceries but thats an easy reorder. Someone else was looking inside a brown bag questioning my avocados, soups and cat litter and listening to angry kids who would have no chips or Cheez Its for school lunches. All in all, we didn't make out so badly, and once it was all said and done, Tim told me that we happened to be out of ketchup anyway!
