Day 906 Where to?

The countdown to my winter getaway is officially on! As the days tick closer, my excitement is building, and I can already feel the tropical breeze and the sand between my toes. This year’s trip promises to be filled with fun times, new adventures, and plenty of memories with friends—and I can’t wait to dive right in.

Our journey kicks off with a one-day stop in Miami before we set sail. I’ve always wanted to explore Miami’s vibrant energy, so Tim and I plan to make the most of our day in the city. We’ll explore the boardwalk, culture, and sunshine, and of course, enjoy a dinner with friends before we board the ship. There’s just something about Miami’s nightlife and diverse atmosphere that will make it the perfect start to our Caribbean voyage.

Next stop, Puerto Plata in the Dominican Republic and my waterfall adventure! After reading so much about the stunning waterfalls in the area, it’s top of my list. Hiking, swimming, and admiring the views, I’m ready for some nature-filled fun in the sun.

After Puerto Plata, we’ll be heading to St. Thomas, the only repeat stop for me on the itinerary. The last time I visited St. Thomas was almost forty years ago, so needless to say, I’m not sure it even counts anymore! But the island’s pristine beaches and relaxed vibe have stayed with me, and I’m looking forward to soaking up the sun, enjoying the water, and seeing what the island has in store. We don’t have a set itinerary—just pure beach time and whatever adventures come our way.

Next up, Tortola in the British Virgin Islands. Honestly, I don’t need much more than sunshine, a beautiful beach, and a cold drink in hand, and I’m good to go. Tortola promises more of the same—easy-going vibes, breathtaking views, and a chance to unwind. No plans, just the freedom to explore and let the island’s charm take over.

The final stop on this Caribbean journey is Great Stirrup Cay, a private island in the Bahamas. After a full day of relaxation on the ship, I think we’ll all be ready for some time on land. We’ll kick back on the beach, enjoy the crystal-clear waters, and maybe even squeeze in a little shopping. Who can resist those little trinkets and souvenirs that remind you of island life?

When the ship returns to Miami, Tim and I will have one last treat since we booked a Resort for a day before we head to the airport. It’ll be the perfect way to wind down after our adventure, and I’m looking forward to enjoying a little bit of luxury and relaxation before reality sets back in. The resort day will be a peaceful prelude to the end of our trip, and I can already picture us soaking in the last moments of the vacation vibes and sunshine.

As much as I’m excited for the trip, the pre-vacation prep is real. My suitcase is packed and sitting in the dining room, but I can’t help but think I’ve overpacked a bit. It’s always hard to leave things behind, especially when I’m heading to multiple tropical destinations and want to bring 100 dresses! I haven’t weighed my bag yet, but I’m hoping it stays under the 50 lb. limit—especially since Tim and I are sharing the suitcase, each having a 25 lb. luggage allowance limit. Fingers crossed!

Although lots of effort goes into the pre vacation prep, the effort of packing, planning, and preparing will all be worth it the moment we step through airport security. That’s when the real vacation begins—when the everyday worries are left behind. It doesn’t matter if the destinations change or the plans shift; the excitement of vacation is a feeling that never fades.

This winter getaway promises to be an unforgettable experience—full of new adventures, fun times with friends, sunny days, and plenty of dining, dancing and sunshine.  I’m ready to make some memories, see new places, and soak up the Caribbean vibes. Let the countdown continue!

Stay tuned for updates and pictures—this adventure is right around the corner!
