Day 913 St. Thomas

A beach day in February, don’t mind if I do! St. Thomas is a beautiful island, making the 30 minute drive to Megan’s Bay Beach a sightseeing delight. The views from the top of the island were spectacular! Wanting to feel hot sand under our feet and have a chance to swim in the crystal clear Caribbean waters made our decision for a beach day an easy one. We grabbed towels from our ship, they a few things in a bag and were off on our adventure. We soaked up the sunshine, swam and marveled at the beauty surrounding us. A group of snookers arrived, providing us endless entertainment as we watched them struggle with their gear and make their way into the water. They were all eager to see the large sea turtles that were swimming inside the bay. Tim and I had walked along the shore, waist deep in water and without any gear, enjoyed spotting the turtles as they darted under and came back up to peek out above the water. The large sea turtles gracefully swimming around and pelicans flying overhead resembled their prehistoric ancestors, making us feel as if we were inside Jurassic park. The beach sand was soft and smooth underfoot, no chance of finding a lucky rock. We swam, lounged in the sand and could have stayed all day if our winter white bodies could have handled it!

Back on the boat we enjoyed a drink on our balcony, with a fantastic view of the island. Whoever says there’s no need for a balcony is a fool. The sliding door in our cabin has remained open day and night, bringing in fresh air and sounds of the ocean.

We met our friends for dinner at a fancy French restaurant, all eager to share stories of their adventures. Each couple had wonderful tales of the sights they saw and fun they had. Dinner was incredible, escargot’s, filet mignon and a decadent chocolate dessert. After indulging on our delicious meals we popped in to watch a bit of music before calling it a night, or maybe morning since it must have been after midnight by the time we said our goodbyes.

Not sure what’s next, no plans for tomorrow but I have a feeling the universe will put me exactly where I’m suppose to be….. maybe with my feet in warm sand?
