Day 922 Snowy nights and Beach Dreams

My once warm and sunny deck is now covered in a blanket of snow and ice. While it’s a bit of a shock to our systems after our vacation in the sunshine, I can’t say I mind spending a stormy day at home. Lord knows, I needed some time to unpack the suitcases that had been sitting in my dining room all week. I was up and at it, shaking sand out of the carry-ons while enjoying the lingering smell of beaches and sunscreen.

Neither Tim nor I bothered to get dressed all day, embracing the weekend vibes to the fullest. We had hoped for a game night with my son and daughter-in-law, but we completely understood when they decided to stay in due to the weather. It began snowing right around dinner time, and the peaceful quiet of a winter storm gave us the perfect backdrop for our lazy evening. A three-day weekend with no plans—oddly, exactly what the doctor ordered—and the perfect time to chat about summer plans.

Speaking of summer, I officially received my welcome letter from the Galilee Beach Club. The invitation to join this exclusive club was a pleasant surprise, as it’s notoriously difficult to get into! While we absolutely love our Green Hill Beach Club, the Galilee Beach Club offers food, drinks, and nightly entertainment that simply can’t be beaten. So, why not have both?

Of course, the “why not” comes down to finances. But after giving up my cleaning lady last year for the cause—and with my 60th birthday fast approaching this April—I’m starting to think the beach club dreams just might make sense. After all, from May through September, we live our vacation life right here at home, at the beach where people would pay big money to visit for just a week.

With my milestone birthday on the horizon, I’ve decided to celebrate sixty days instead of one big party. I want to take the time to celebrate with each and every person I love, savoring every moment with them. To make it official, I think I’ll start a birthday celebration calendar and begin filling it up with events, fun dates, and moments to remember. There’s no need to rush—I’m giving myself an entire year to enjoy my sixty days of celebrations.

From snow days at home to warm summer nights by the beach, the year ahead is shaping up to be my best one yet. Here’s to a year filled with memories, love, and the joy of celebrating life with those who matter most.

Let the countdown to the best birthday ever begin!
