Day 955 Business Casual
I was up and out the door early to attend a conference in Warwick, and one of the first people I ran into was my niece! She was busy setting up her booth, which happened to be right next to a friend's booth, who looked at the two of us trying to find a family resemblance. There is none, Erica is the daughter of one of Tim's brothers and we have completely different genetics and looks, but I enjoy when people try to plug in a family trait just the same. Erica and I took advantage of the small breaks throughout the morning to visit each other and catch up, odd to connect with her in a business setting but always good to see a friendly face.
Conferences like these are always filled with vendors offering all kinds of fun swag. I had a blast collecting a bag full of quirky items that I’m sure my grandkids will enjoy—who wouldn’t want a stress ball or a flashlight?
The day was packed with networking and small talk—two areas I happen to excel in—so it was an easy day for me. And yes, my dress was fabulous. Leave it to Kate Spade to blend business casual with animal print—I absolutely love it. I paired the dress with a short jacket and black heels, both by Calvin Klein. My jewelry was, once again, from Kate Spade: classic gold bow earrings with a pearl necklace and a gold bow clasp.
One of the best features of a well-made dress, besides its comfort, is definitely the pockets, and this dress had them! Leopard print has never looked or felt so good. But as good as I looked during the day, I definitely looked the opposite in the evening. Once I got home, I ditched my pretty outfit for sweatpants and a T-shirt in a red-hot minute. I looked like a bum, and I enjoyed every minute of it as I plopped down in my comfy chair to watch a bit of my show. Yes, I’m still working my way through The Walking Dead, and the characters are still battling zombies and groups of bad guys… Ugh. Will they ever catch a break?
Tomorrow, though, there will be no zombies. Tim and I are heading to the theater to see Snow White with Andrew’s parents. Yay! It’s going to be so exciting to see Andrew up on the big screen as well as his parent's well earned pride in their boy. Expect a rave review coming your way soon!
