Day 956 Disney Magic
What an amazing experience it was to see Andrew up on the big screen, starring in Snow White! His mom, Allison, was beaming with pride, and the theater was filled with family and friends, all cheering when Andrew appeared on screen. Andrew's performance was, of course, outstanding! I find it hard to imagine that Hollywood won’t be speed dialing him to get him into more movies. He’s definitely leading actor material, so be on the lookout for more from him.
For now, though, he’s back on Broadway, starring in a little play called Othello, co-starring with none other than Denzel Washington and Jake Gyllenhaal... quite a big deal! But for now, it's all about Snow White. The movie was fantastic, and not just because I’m an Andrew fan. It had all the Disney magic you’d expect and is entertaining for all ages.
After the movie, Andrew's uncle took a video of our group cheering him on, and I sent him the photo here of Allison and I getting ready to head into the theater. Once the credits rolled, we all celebrated with a pizza party, and it was great to catch up with Andrew’s younger siblings—one of whom I hadn’t seen in years! Allison will be heading to New York to see Andrew on opening weekend of Othello—imagine that, seeing his movie released and attending a Broadway opening all in one weekend!
With all the fanfare surrounding Andrew, I have to say, good for his parents for encouraging him to pursue acting. Both are physicians, and would have loved to see him follow a medical career. But once he set his heart on acting, they supported him every step of the way. It’s not the easiest path, especially when so many talented actors never get their big break. But they stood by him, and Allison certainly earned every moment of pride.
I was thrilled to share in the family’s big night. Allison calls me one of Andrew's “other moms,” a nod to the love and care I gave him when the kids were little. And that’s the boy I saw on screen, with the same mischievous grin and signature smirky smile. Okay, so I’ll admit it—I’m beaming with a little pride of my own too. Bravo, Andrew!
Here’s to many more incredible milestones for this talented young man. The sky’s the limit!
