Day 958 Sunday Afternoon
Though it was still a bit chilly to sit outside, that didn't stop us. A cozy fire pit and warm lap blankets made all the difference! We met up with Ray and Alida early in the afternoon at a new local vineyard and spent several hours soaking in the early spring sunshine while sipping on delicious wine.
The vineyard, once a large barn, has retained its original, beautiful old wood floors. The giant barn door still slides open with its magnificent hardware, creating a stunning and rustic ambiance. The place was packed, but our small group found a spot outside where we could enjoy a glimpse of what’s to come. Pretty soon, we’ll be sitting outside without jackets, soaking up the sun, and loving it.
We chatted the day away, catching up and enjoying the peaceful atmosphere, before heading to dinner at the Firemen's Club in East Greenwich—another great local spot. We were delighted to discover that the Firemen’s Club is now serving food from Mariner Grille, albeit with a slightly abbreviated menu. It was a treat to experience the food and atmosphere.
What really struck me was how many people were out on a Sunday—usually, it’s a day I reserve for prepping for the week. But this time, it felt like a Saturday. Every time I remembered it was Sunday, I wished for just a little more of the weekend. Wouldn’t a three-day weekend be nice?
Tim and I made it home before 8 p.m. after a full afternoon and evening of fun. While the weekend may have been short, days like these make me feel like I’ve truly gotten the best of it. I’m already looking forward to more days like this as we embrace the warmth of spring.
