Day 990 Countdown to Derby Day

Getting excited for another Derby Day—dress-up days are always my favorite! Thank goodness I married a man who enjoys it as much as I do (if not more). Although, he definitely prefers being in the spotlight, not the sidecar.

Last year, I went all out with a lemon theme: lemon slice jewelry, a fabulous yellow hat decorated with whole and sliced lemons, flowers, and ribbons. I even made a cute little sign for Tim to carry with an arrow pointing to me that read, "She's my main squeeze." I baked lemon cupcakes and decorated each one with lemon frosting and a sweet candy lemon slice on top. It was all so much fun, and Tim even went along with all the antics I had planned.

This year will have a totally different vibe—much more elegant than theme-based. I bought a fabulous dress months ago and paired it with a spectacular headpiece. I believe it will be just as striking, but in a completely different way. Tim is off the hook for silly props this time, but I’m hoping he’ll wear the shirt I picked out for him… fingers crossed!

I can't wait to see everyone dressed up in their Derby best. The beach club party is always a blast—Tammy, who runs it, truly goes all out and dazzles her guests with her amazing attention to detail. With the Derby just one week away, it's time to start prepping those outfits—especially a fancy hat!

Here's to another unforgettable Derby Day, filled with fun, fashion, and fabulous company! Let the countdown to Derby Day begin!
