Day 973 Cheerful
Nothing lifts the spirits quite like a vibrant bouquet of flowers, and the cheerful yellow roses from my son and his family are a perfect touch to brighten even the rainiest of days. If April showers really do bring May flowers, then we’re in for a spectacular show of blooms next month.
With a busy month ahead, filled with birthday celebrations, there’s no time to waste. Between the festivities, I need to start prepping the house for company—Easter is just around the corner! Every year, I host Easter at my place, and this time, I’m aiming for a festive brunch. But with a full house for the weekend, I’ve got plenty to do—guest rooms to tidy, menus to plan, and of course, the never-ending list of to-dos.
Easter egg hunts are always a highlight, but let’s be real—those eggs won’t stuff themselves! I think that might just be a job for Tim. As my daughter and I debated between brunch or dinner, we both agreed that brunch is the way to go—though, in our case, it's more breakfast-heavy than lunch. At the end of the day, what matters most is having the family together. Of course, the food and fanfare don’t hurt either!
I’m not sure how I won the Easter gathering lottery, but I’m beyond grateful it’s become a tradition for all my kids to come home for the holiday. Candy, pastel décor, egg hunts, fresh flowers in full bloom—and it all happens in my birthday month! Even though the air is still chilly, the promise of spring is undeniable, with the blooms starting to appear everywhere.
Until then, I’ll enjoy the cut flowers and indoor blooms I have on hand, savoring the early signs of spring that are already filling my home with color and joy.
