Day 975 Gifts & Take Out
Another birthday gift arrived from Dawn, and holy cow—I’m in love with my new handbag! It’s absolutely stunning. Honestly, I’m a little afraid to set it down anywhere for fear of getting it dirty. I might need to carry the Kate Spade dust bag it came with just to use as a drop cloth. No joke, it’s that gorgeous.
It’s from the new spring line, which means I’ll be one of the first to have it—and that just makes it feel even more special.
After unwrapping the gift and spending way too long admiring it from every angle, I quickly switched gears to get ready. A couple of friends were coming by for a low-key night in—something I had suggested instead of going out. Kathy, being the absolute gem she is, offered to pick up takeout on her way over.
When she arrived, struggling to carry what looked like half the restaurant with her (plus wine!), we both burst out laughing. Our “casual night in” had suddenly turned into a full-blown feast. She’d gone to The Chop House, a fancy local steakhouse, and I swear she ordered the entire menu. But hey, options are always a good idea, right?
By the time Heather joined us, we were already elbow-deep in calamari, tater tots, bolognese, ribeye, wings, salads—and of course, lots of wine. I don’t know why I was expecting a pizza, but Kathy clearly takes takeout to a whole new level.
The three of us sat around my kitchen table for hours, eating, drinking, and talking nonstop. Time flew by in the best way. Before we knew it, it was way past our usual bedtimes. When Tim came home from playing cards, he was surprised to find us still laughing and chatting away—and happily helped himself to a few leftover wings.
We had such a great time that we're already planning another night in (or out) later this month.
By the time my head hit the pillow, I was out cold—full belly, still giggling from all the conversation, and so excited to show off my new bag.
What a day!
😘❤️T
