Day 979 Blissfully Unaware

It can never be said that I don’t go all out to make a dream come true. Tim has been absolutely pining for his favorite flavor of ice cream, convinced that Peach should be a standard in every grocery store freezer. He even made the wild (and very serious) claim that Peach is in the top three ice cream flavors of all time. Naturally, I laughed—but he was dead serious.

Years ago, I stumbled across a peach cobbler ice cream and bought it for him, completely unaware that I was unleashing a flavor-obsessed monster. I haven’t seen it since, but Tim has definitely not forgotten. He’s been accusing me of bypassing the sacred peach cobbler for boring old peanut butter cup and chocolate chip. The audacity...as if I walk by the frozen section at the store, laughing as I pass it by!

This past weekend turned into a full-blown ice cream treasure hunt. I had multiple friends Googling “elusive peach cobbler ice cream” like we were chasing down a mythical creature. One friend swore she spotted it at Target, so another hero friend made the journey—only to find zero peach ice cream. Not even a hint. Not even a whisper of cobbler.

But then—victory! I found a quart of Peaches and Cream tucked away in a grocery store in North Kingstown. I marched home triumphantly, prize in hand. After all the drama, I figured I deserved a taste too. And I’ve gotta admit—it was really good. Not “top three” good, in my opinion, but still a solid 8.5/10. I’m more of a Black Raspberry kind of gal, or chocolate chip, or pistachio… honestly, I love almost every flavor except chocolate. Keep that cocoa nonsense out of my ice cream and away from me.

My all-time fave? Spumoni. Yum. But good luck finding that anywhere—it’s rarer than a unicorn around here, which makes no sense considering how many Italian restaurants we have in this state.

The hunt for peach cobbler ice cream continues, and my team of flavor-finding friends is on high alert. But for now, Tim is happily spooning away at his peach ice cream, totally unaware of the lengths I went to just to make his frozen dessert dreams come true...and that's exactly how life should be...Blissfully unaware!
