Day 984 Easter Prep
Easter guests arrived along with beautiful weather. The kids were so happy to play outside—kicking a ball around the yard, picking up sticks, and checking out the wildlife in the river. This Double-crested Cormorant was completely focused on finding lunch and wasn't going to be frightened off by a couple of noisy boys. Both Bridie and I lounged on the deck, basking in the sunshine, and we both fell asleep for a short time, unable to keep our eyes open in the bright light. The boys picked clumps of grass to feed the chickens, poking it through the chicken wire and squealing each time a hen pecked their tiny fingers.
I had been up super early to change bedding, clean the house, make dinner for everyone, and prep for Easter brunch. Days like these make me especially thankful for a crockpot, which allows for early prep and walk-away freedom. When we all came inside—hungry and ready for a hearty meal—delicious chili was waiting, as if someone else had made it. Jess and Kyle even joined us, timing their visit perfectly for a meal. After taking baths and putting on pajamas, the boys snuggled into bed, eager to see if the Easter Bunny would visit.
It was one of those simple, joy-filled days that leaves your heart feeling full. Happy Easter, from our nest to yours.
