Day 1000 Cat House
Had I realized this would be my 1000th post, I might have tried a bit harder to get a fancy photo. Instead, today’s post is all about the new cat house for Pep. Remember when I said that was a story for another day? Well, here we are.
I often worry about Peps getting stuck outside all day or night—though truthfully, she never seems to want to come inside for long. I'm hoping she'll get used to her little house over the spring and summer so that when the cold weather sets in, she knows she has a warm place to hide.
I placed the house on our second-story deck so she'd be safe from any large predators while she's inside. She climbs up to the deck without any trouble, so it feels like a good, secure spot for her to rest and the tiny house looks pretty darn cute next to my planter.
Tim assembled the house for me—of course, it came in pieces. "Some assembly required" is the famous phrase I never want to read. He joked that if Pep doesn’t like the house, we’ll just get a cat that does. (Kidding!)
Once the house was ready, I put a few cat treats inside to lure her in. Pep checked it out, went inside to gobble up the treats, and came right back out. She’ll be getting plenty of treats as I work to help her trust this tiny house. Time will tell.
Honestly, I suspect these cute little houses are made more for folks like me than for the cats themselves. But fingers crossed Pep gets on board with my idea and realizes she has a cozy place to escape the rain or cold.
As for 1,000 days of writing—wow. Who would have imagined?
Thanks for coming along on the journey, one post at a time.
Keep on writing.
