Day 1021 Tourist Vibes
Tim and I enjoyed a wonderful lunch outdoors at Poor Judgement, making the most of the makeshift outdoor seating area—a lasting change brought on by COVID. During those crazy pandemic times, countless restaurants purchased barriers, took over parking spaces, and created outdoor dining areas that have since become permanent fixtures. On a beautiful day, I’ll always choose to sit outside!
We toasted the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country, feeling grateful for their sacrifice and humbled by their courage.
After lunch, we wandered along the busy cobblestone streets, popping into gift shops like tourists. Embracing the vibe, I even bought a Newport sweatshirt! The city was packed with visitors, and I can’t blame them—if I didn’t live nearby, I’d want to visit too.
Fortunately for us, we were able to escape the crowds (and Newport prices) by heading to the Hibernian Club. There, we found a quiet back patio drenched in sunshine. We arrived early, before the bartender was on duty, so Tim poured us a couple of drinks and left a note for our tab.
We were smart enough to recognize the magic of the afternoon: full sunshine, a peaceful corner in the middle of the chaos, and precious time alone together.
It was one of those simple days that quietly etches itself into memory. A perfect blend of gratitude, sunshine, and love—everything a holiday weekend should be.
