Day 1023 Treasures

Not all treasure hunts are successful, but once in a while, you hit the jackpot! I was feeling frustrated with the crowds while thrifting this week—it's definitely becoming a mainstream hobby, and I’m not loving all the newbies. Most of the new thrifters seem to be younger folks, probably in their 30s, all on the hunt for items they can resell for big bucks. While I say, good for them, I also kind of wish they'd get out of my way!

I meandered up and down the aisles, scanning for a treasure or two, and managed to find a couple of things worthy of coming home with me. Then I spotted a little purse hanging on the wall—something I could have easily missed. It’s a stainless steel handbag, unlike anything I’ve ever seen before, and absolutely gorgeous. I quickly snagged it before anyone else could eyeball it. With no brand name or designer markings, others may not have realized it was such a gem.

If you need Google Images to tell you what a good find is, you’ll never make it as a thrifter.

I walked out of that shop with the same thrill as if I were carrying a brand new Chanel bag. That’s the magic of thrifting—sometimes, the best treasures are the ones only you can recognize.
