Day 1027 Mist
After a lazy morning at home, Tim and I ventured out to Matunuck to see Heavy Rescue, one of our favorite bands, playing at the Ocean Mist. The Mist is, hands down, Tim’s favorite place on Earth—he could happily waste away every Sunday of his life there, listening to live music and catching up with the who's who of Matunuck, RI.
I’m always thankful for the deck, where I can soak up a bit of sunshine and take in the spectacular ocean view. The band was fantastic, the dance floor was packed, and everyone seemed genuinely happy to be living their best lives. I love watching Tim in his element—on the dance floor and at his favorite hangout.
Matunuck seems to be a black hole for him; once he’s there, he never wants to leave. So, after the band finished, we wandered next door to the Pub. Dinner was suggested—no doubt as a way to keep me out a little longer. His stalling techniques worked, but not for as long as he would have liked. It’s no surprise that when he says he’s going to hear a band from 4 to 7 p.m., he doesn’t end up home until 10 or 11.
I had a great time and enjoyed the band every bit as much as he did, but the pull to get home and prepare for the week always wins out for me.
In other news, one of the eaglets took flight! It didn’t go far or stay up long, but it ventured out and gave its wings a try. The other eaglet looked on with interest but isn’t quite ready to join in on the high-air adventure. It’ll be exciting to see them grow braver this week, venturing out farther and staying up longer each time. I admit—it’s also a bit nerve-wracking. I worry about those babies!
Life lately has been a mix of music, ocean air, and tiny moments of courage—whether it's a band taking the stage or an eaglet taking flight. Here's to finding joy in the rhythm of Sundays and the small leaps of bravery along the way.
