Day 1031 Health & Happiness
Wouldn't it be nice to climb a tree, sit up above the world, and watch it all go by? Peps has the right idea! She has a habit of casually crossing the busy road whenever I have company leaving, freaking everyone out. There’s a tree on the other side that she quickly climbs—my guess is she enjoys watching everyone rush to check on her.
I’d say she’s about thirteen years old now and has been crossing that road her entire life. Fingers crossed she continues to do it successfully! But there’s no way I could keep her inside—she’d go crazy. She lives for hunting, climbing, prowling the neighborhood, and lounging in the sunshine. To lock her inside would be to take away everything she loves.
Since I don’t like Donna’s dog, she pretends she doesn’t like Peps—but let’s be honest, everyone loves our Peps!
Last night, seven of our eight were back together after months apart. Back in April, one couple had missed my birthday party because one of them wasn’t feeling well. That turned into a doctor’s visit, which turned into emergency brain surgery that same week! Thankfully, he’s doing fantastic. I admit I expected Frankenstein-style scars on his forehead, but he looks no worse for wear. Apparently, they fix your brain by going up through your nose... ouch!
His successful recovery had us all toasting to health, happiness, and friendship with a renewed sense of gratitude. How quickly life can change.
Tim missed our dinner out, so I was the seventh wheel—but with this crew, that didn’t matter one bit.
It was a night filled with laughter, stories, and a reminder that the best moments in life are often the simplest ones—shared with the people (and pets) we love most. Here's to more nights like that.
