Day 1045 Prep

So, we finally had a sunny day and—wouldn’t you know it—I stayed inside all day cleaning! It was a weekday off for Juneteenth, so it felt like a bonus day to prep before the weekend. I opened all the windows, shook out the blankets, washed all the bedding, vacuumed, and tackled a mountain of clothes that could rival Mt. Everest.

Family will be visiting for the next three weekends, so everything had to get done! Then came the big mattress swap. My son prefers one bedroom but likes the mattress in another. So, being the great mom that I am, I swapped the mattresses so he could have the best of both worlds.

Bridie and the boys will be here this weekend, so I set up lots of bedtime stories next to the bed, plugged in a night light, and got the fan running for some white noise. It’s a good thing I love having company—there’s always a ton of prep involved, followed by the inevitable cleanup afterward.

I had to laugh while cleaning up for my kids to visit. I spent half their childhoods telling them to clean up after themselves, and now here I am tidying up for them! Maybe I should just leave the place a mess and tell them it’s a walk down memory lane.

It still makes me laugh that Tim once said it was crazy for us to have two guest rooms. Every time Bridie and the boys visit, we use both—and next weekend, we’ll need both plus the basement pull-out for all the guests.

Time to plan a few meals and get that grocery order in!

All in all, it was a productive day that felt good in its own way. Now the house is clean, the beds are ready, and the countdown to a full house begins. Bring on the chaos—I’m ready.
