Day 1048 Flowers & Snakes

I don't usually enjoy going to bridal showers—or showers of any kind, really—but when it's one of your favorite gals in the world getting married, it makes it worth attending! Tory's shower was a lovely brunch celebration filled with laughter, games, and sweet moments for the bride-to-be.

We played a couple of fun games: one involved guessing how many Hershey’s Kisses were in a vase (I was off by at least a hundred), and another had us sketching what we imagined her wedding dress would look like. While I didn’t win either game, I have to say—my dress drawing wasn’t half bad! Tory looked radiant and so genuinely happy. She’s going to be an absolutely stunning bride this September.

After the meal, we were invited outside to a flower truck to make our own bouquets to take home—such a cute and thoughtful idea! My daughter and I enjoyed being out together, even if she was a bit cranky so a girls brunch was the perfect break for her. Tory introduced me to her friends as her "old lady best friend"—my favorite introduction ever!

When we got home, the house was buzzing with energy. Luckily, the Galilee Beach Club had a reptile show scheduled for the kids, which made the evening plans an easy choice. The show was incredible—giant snakes, Komodo dragons, turtles, and other fascinating (and slimy!) creatures. The kids even got to hold a massive snake that needed at least four of them to support it.

As the realization set in that the long weekend was winding down, we made it home just before 8 p.m. to regroup and get to bed at a reasonable hour. It was so good to see the sun again—long overdue! And now, as we head into the week, the big news is a heat wave on the way. That’s New England for you!

It was a weekend full of simple joys, little adventures, and time with people I love most. Here’s to more moments like these, and to a summer that's just getting started.
