Day 1057 Peps
With a house full of commotion, Peps just rolls with the flow. As far as cats go, she's been one of the best I’ve ever had—even with the middle-of-the-night wake-ups. Peps loves company; the more people swooning over her, the better. And certainly, the more people letting her outside and then two minutes later back inside, the better!
We had a lazy morning—hanging out, chatting, and cooking up lots of fresh eggs. Then we made our move to head out to the Coast Guard House for an amazing lunch—my son Chad’s treat. We sat at a table right on the patio rocks, as close to the ocean as humanly possible. Although it was a hot, humid day, we were perfectly comfortable thanks to a slight ocean breeze and a canopy overhead shading us from the bright sunshine.
The food was delicious, as expected. And when the waitress asked where we were visiting from, I knew I had my vacation vibe fully on! We came home and, within minutes, headed back out for a walk to Brickley’s for ice cream—as if we weren’t already stuffed from lunch. My son loves our bike path and is always game for a walk, which was probably a good idea after eating so much.
With our bellies full of delicious ice cream and a little walk behind us, we returned home and crashed for a bit. Before long, the house filled again with the rest of the crew—eager to play games and visit. I ordered pizzas for game food, having not planned anything for dinner and certainly not having the time to cook.
It’s always a whirlwind of activity when my son visits. There’s never enough time to pack it all in, but we give it our best shot. The revolving door of company is fantastic—Peps isn’t the only one who loves all the excitement.
This fantastic photo of Peps is compliments of Sam.
These are the days that fill your heart—the kind of memories that linger long after the dishes are done and the guests have gone. Here’s to summer, family, and the joyful chaos of being together.
