Day 1063 Golden Hours

During peak tourist season here in South County, what a treat it is to sit on a deck all by myself and enjoy the evening sunshine. The only other people at the beach club were inside playing cards, missing out on a beautiful evening. As much as I enjoyed my solitude, I equally enjoyed being joined by my friend Donna. With all the company we've had this week, we hadn’t seen much of each other and had plenty to catch up on.

Carole and Ray arrived to meet their daughter for dinner and graciously served me a plate of lasagna and a glass of wine—giving me no good reason to ever move. Tim joined me once his card game ended. Sadly, he didn’t win, but once he sat down next to me, all felt right with the world.

Donna usually watches the card games, so her choosing to sit with me instead of spectating was a big deal. I must really rate high for her to skip the show. The beach was nearly empty, with only a few scattered people soaking up the sunset—it seems the world is back to work after the holiday week.

We were so lucky with beautiful weather last week. This week has been nothing but rain, fog, and storms, but thankfully, it looks like good weekend weather is ahead.

After a busy week with family, that quiet moment alone felt like a shock to the system—I’m so glad friends showed up to share it with me.

Sometimes, the best summer evenings aren’t the loud ones—they’re the quiet ones that surprise you with warmth, good company, and just the right amount of lasagna. Here's to more of those simple, golden hours.
