Day 1064 Indulge
No, I didn't eat ice cream for dinner in bed again—but let’s just say, dessert was delicious. I met up with friends for dinner at Bistro by the Sea. They were all heading to the show afterward, while I headed home, made myself a bowl of ice cream, and climbed into bed by 8:15 p.m. Honestly, I’m not sure I could have stayed awake through the show, so going our separate ways after an amazing meal was perfect.
Tim was off playing cards again, so I was the seventh wheel at dinner—not that anyone in our group cares. Jess and I almost made it to the show last weekend after all my company left, but it didn’t end up happening. Waitress is playing now—a show neither of us has seen—and new shows are always fun to catch. Hopefully, we can carve out some time to go.
Late nights during the week are tough for me, but somehow I have so much more energy on the weekends. During dinner, my friends were chatting about golf, new clubs, and weekday tee times. Retirement sure sounds sweet! By the time I retire, their golf games will probably be way ahead of mine... but I’m determined to stay in the game. All I need are new clubs—and lots and lots of time to practice. Time, of course, seems to be the most elusive part of my golf game.
I actually won a gift certificate for a round of golf at our local course about two years ago, and it's still sitting with a pile of gift cards and certificates, waiting to be used. I should really go through them and start chipping away at those experiences—dinners, events, rounds of golf—one by one.
But for now, I’m perfectly content with a bowl of ice cream, a cool bedroom, a comfy bed... and an early bedtime. Some nights, that’s all the indulgence I need.
