Day 1070 True Love

Ahhh... ocean air and salty hair — two of my favorite things.

Tim had the day off, so he spent the afternoon at the beach. I caught up as quickly as I could, and once I arrived, the warm breeze seemed to carry away all the troubles of the day. Tim was eager to go see a musician play at Ninigret Park, so my time at the beach ended before it really began — and off we went.

Will Evans was playing, a local musician who uses all kinds of cool instruments and one we hadn’t seen live yet. Ninigret was packed — food trucks, friends, and great music — so at least I didn’t leave the beach for nothing!

I had been dreaming of going out to eat after the show (lobster mac and cheese was on my mind), but Tim was starving (he probably hadn’t eaten all day), and the food trucks were convenient — so that was dinner. I’m not sure why everyone loves food trucks so much. They’re every bit as expensive (if not more) than a sit-down restaurant, and not usually as good. Maybe it’s the idea of eating out of a paper bowl and still paying top dollar that bothers me. Whatever it is, I think they’re overpriced!

That didn’t stop me from getting a poke bowl with extra shrimp... and later, a big scoop of ice cream.

Will Evans was really good — not totally my vibe, but I could tell Tim was digging it. One of the last songs of the night was a Paul Simon cover, and he sang it so well he almost won me over! Vibe or not, he’s a super talented musician and a great singer. I hope he finds his way onto bigger stages soon.

After the show, Tim suggested we go out, but my practical side intervened. I said we should call it a night — after all, we need to rest up for the weekend ahead.

Even when plans change or time feels cut short, days like this still leave my heart full. The ocean, live music, and a little adventure with my true love— it's hard to ask for more.
